"Exhibits / Parodos" Rasu g.6, Vilnius

Features found objects on site incorporated in display cabinets, media and visuals by the artist in the context of the project "ONSITE in Vilnius" and artistic work by prison inmates from Linz and Vilnius.

“Exhibits” enables the former office of the prison director and several other rooms "to speak" about the former use. Just besides the church of "The heart of Jesus" the monastery which was rendered into a prison and later abandoned now comes into life again:

Whispering stories, wishes and sorrows of former prisoners and the ones who are still serving their sentence in the buildings next to the church compound. Here we can find dried and shriveled flowers, documents dryly explaining the behaviour of prisoners, the rules of how to make up the bed, wardrobes built up in the walls. The artist from Linz, Anja Westerfrölke, made an installation in the space of the church and the monastery using the objects she found there; she also created objects reminding us about emptiness; she included the art works of prisoners and their relatives into the exposition. The hints to objects and art activities are making a net which is offering us to feel and experience the multiple layers of the history which are lurking silently and invisibly in the very centre of Vilnius.
